Container

A centered container with a maximum width, useful for constraining content on large screens.

Quick Reference

ClassProperties
.containerwidth: 100%; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; max-width: 80rem

The .container class sets max-width: 80rem (1280px) and centers the element horizontally with auto margins.

Basic Usage

html
<div class="container">
  <h1>Page Title</h1>
  <p>This content is centered and constrained to 1280px max width.</p>
</div>

With Padding

Typically you add horizontal padding to prevent content from touching the viewport edges:

html
<div class="container px-4">
  <p>Content with padding on small screens.</p>
</div>

Responsive Container Sizes

Use the container token sizes via SCSS for different max-widths:

scss
@use "katanakit-js/scss/variables" as v;

// Available sizes: sm (24rem), md (28rem), lg (32rem), xl (36rem),
// 2xl (42rem), 3xl (48rem), 4xl (56rem), 5xl (64rem), 6xl (72rem)
.narrow-container {
  max-width: v.container("lg"); // 32rem = 512px
  margin-inline: auto;
  width: 100%;
}

SCSS Source

scss
// From _utilities.scss — generate-grid-flex-classes()
.container {
  width: 100%;
  margin-left: auto;
  margin-right: auto;
  max-width: 80rem; // 1280px
}
